First Impressions: Grand Theft Auto Online

Here it is, a first impression look on Grand Theft Auto Online for the next gen systems.
I have to say this is a great remake of the game. Making online a much larger world, there's so much chaos going on you can't even get a break to stick up a store.

When I first heard about first person mode I was like "ahhh man it's about to get real." Playing first person mode in the game I was not very impressed with it. To me it just didn't feel like it matched the game. For so long its been on a fixed camera and I'm just not ready to see this game in first person.

Online gaming has also become both fun, but a drag. There's so much going on in the game they just leave you outside for a good ten minutes looking for a server to put you on. I feel like I'm being put on hold and they forgot they put me on hold. It isn't a good feeling, but the minute you're in that world well you get to release the anger you had by being on hold for so long. Ain't that amazing.

Raising money is also so much easier to do in the game. Doing online missions for the Xbox 360 and the PS3 your payout wouldn't be so great. Now you make at least 12,000 for doing a small Gerald mission stealing the baking soda ;). Now that's how you get into a half a million home real quick. Do missions and sleep in cars for a few nights.

Who needs to change clothes now-a-days anyway, when you can live like my home slice Gerald.

Review: Destiny

It looks like that time has finally rolled around the long awaited Destiny review is here. For the most part I have been avoiding writing this article for quite some time, even though I knew for quite some time how I felt about it. The reason being is Destiny (the game) is that pretty girl you always wanted to date, but once you got to know her you realize things are not how you imagined. That sums up my experience with Destiny.

Review: Smash Brothers 3DS

When first playing Smash Brothers for the 3DS I was extremely excited. After the 6 year gap of no smash brothers, smash brothers 3ds was completely worth the wait. First impressions of the game I honestly felt no change in it switching from Super Smash Brother Brawl, but as I played the game more I seen slight changes that made the game better and gave everyone a fair chance at winning.

Examples for changes they made each character capable of knocking off an opponent at any percentage. Yes most characters build percentage faster, but it is still more leveled field than Brawl ever will be. There is no longer any edge guarding in the game for the people who enjoy grabbing edges before someone else can. When a character is going to grab an edge the other character will be forced off for the oncoming character.

Let's talk characters, with some new additions and old and the ones who didn't quite make it to the next game. Adding new pokemon like Greninja and Charizard (without the pokemon trainer) was a win. They essentially picked two fan favorites from pokemon and gave them both freedom. With Greninja's powerful water shuriken that can knock a foe off the stage at full power and Charizard  with flare blitz that does some major damage to its opponent and minor damage to itself just like in the regular pokemon game. Another character I just have to talk about is my favorite Kirby. Super powerful in Brawl and still as powerful, but made even better and faster. Kirby's hammer now has a hold effect like King Dedede's hammer with all the same effects of holding the hammer. The longer you home it the stronger the hit is, but you take damage for holding it for that long.

This game is everything I can asked for and I cannot wait to play the Wii U version. Stay tuned for more on Smash Brothers. Rated 10/10 Fantastic job on the game Nintendo.

Review : The Evil Within

If I had to describe "The Evil Within" in one word, the word would be challenging.  Being developed by Tango Gameworks and the project is led by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, (whose been Executive producer and director of some of my favorite games such as Resident Evil 4 and Goof Troop)  Evil With In has a Resident Evil 4 feel to it but with a lot of twist and turns. Even With the fighting chance DLC, I'm having a hard time staying alive against hordes of twisted village and large boss creatures. Following Detective Sebastian Castellanos the main character who you find more about as you play through the story is man who understands lose. Stealth and strategy is what your going to need to survive save ammo hide in a closet enjoy a little wait under someones bed and then strike. The story line its self is a puzzle and more and more you proceed through the chapters of the game, everything starts to become clear. Shooting is difficult because enemies can take a lot of damage and they run at you. Also, with a limited amount of ammo this is truly a survival game. There are alternative weapons, the Ax and the torch, there for only one time usage but great way to save ammo. I'm really enjoying Evil With In and cant wait for DLC to come out for the game.

I'm giving this game a rating of 8.5/10

At Pax East we were Lucky enough to stumble upon this indie placed far from the rest of the other indie booths, tucked away by its lonesome Dungeon Hearts is an interesting take on puzzle based rpgs. Dungeon Hearts is most comparable to puzzle quest but with an eraser to get into play style. While still offering a challenging yet deep game play that will have you playing for hours. This game came out yesterday and is available on steam for under $3.00 USD, so be sure to give this a charming indie a try and check out the gallery below.

"The Border Lands" Spotlight

The Border Lands is a "Demake" of Borderlands 2, as advertisement for the upcoming release on September 18. It is a free to play browser based game with the essence of  borderlands in a top down shooter. It is actually really diverse for a 16bit game that is free!  Also it is fun way to waste time, you should really  check it out and never pick up a gun that says "Random". This game would port very well to a mobile device like ios or android and would sell like crazy, I would love to see that happen. Anyways click here to play.
