Review: Destiny

It looks like that time has finally rolled around the long awaited Destiny review is here. For the most part I have been avoiding writing this article for quite some time, even though I knew for quite some time how I felt about it. The reason being is Destiny (the game) is that pretty girl you always wanted to date, but once you got to know her you realize things are not how you imagined. That sums up my experience with Destiny.

If you check out my past articles on Destiny you can read how genuinely excited I was, in my Hype Train! article on Destiny I even go as far to say "I have full confidence that Destiny will come out and be the game we were actually promised not some not some half ass shell of what could have been." and in fact Destiny IS a shell of what it was supposed to be. With gaping plot holes, horrible writing and the major lack of a story, Destiny leaves me wanting more. I wish I could just say "I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain." and look past everything, but that does not make things better. In fact it makes them worse!

But aside from the obvious I was correct about one thing and that is multiplayer! for a couple of weeks Destiny multiplayer consumed my life. I was all about those engrams! but seriously even though I knew  the story was bad as long as I was playing with friends, I would play mission after mission logging  hundreds of hours. Diverse maps, interesting game types and LOOT! kept me enthralled with Destiny despite the major story flaws. Also I can't forget how awesome the raid is. While I given Destiny a break as of late to play some new releases and mostly because the RNG  keeps screwing me over. The multilayer side of Destiny is truly amazing and fun and what made me so excited to play Destiny in the first place. Once the dark below expansion come out on December 9th I will be sinking more time into Destiny.

The other redeeming part of destiny is the technical side of Destiny. From controls, graphics, sound, and the world feel is all outstanding and really make Destiny feel alive. While the story does not take advantage of this amazing foundation every other aspect of the game does. In turn this helps the multiplayer be amazing and makes it easy on the player while they are going through uninteresting story bits. While Destiny does not live up to my expectations and has a lot to work on. I still find Destiny overall to be fun. I may not recommended it wholeheartedly I do believe later iterations will be better. I give Destiny a 7 out of 10.
