Justice League: Throne of Atlantis Review

    Credit DC Comics

Hey all you great Comic fans, we got a chance to preview  Justice League: Throne of Atlantis movie and this is not the Super Friends Aquaman we all know!  JL: Throne of Atlantis Voice Acting Cast: Matt Lanter as Aquaman, Sumalee Montano as Queen Mera, Sam Witwer as Orm, Sirena  Irwin as Queen Atlanna,  Jerry O'Connell as Superman, Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman, Jason O'Mara as Batman, Christopher Gorham as The Flash, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Sean Patrick Thomas as Cyborg, Sean Astin as Shazam. As always here is a synopsis of the movie:

Cyborg discovers an imminent threat in the depths of the oceans so powerful that it rallies together the newly formed Justice League. Meanwhile, wanderingthousands of feet above the ocean floor is drifter Arthur Curry, a man with strange powers who may be the last chance to bridge the ancient Atlantean world with our own. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League must band together as they face off against warmongering Orm, an army of sea creatures, otherworldly weapons and perilous odds. In this all-new epic adventure from the DC Universe, mankind’s only hope of escaping from the darkness lies with the guiding light of a man – Aquaman!

Review

Ok Aquaman is probably the least favorite character of the DCU , but after watching this movie, there might be a few more fans!  Justice League: Throne of Atlantis continues after the events of  Justice League: War, and the seven hero's are not used to working as a team. The movie does a good job telling the origin of Arthur Curry and his issues trying to come to grips with his strange powers. The story then shifts to the conflict his half brother Orm is having with his mother the queen, about the peace between the surface world and  Atlantis. Due to the event of the previous movie, he feels its only a matter of time before the Surface world's problem becomes theirs.

One thing comic fans will notice is the movie doesn't follow the New 52 Justice League story written by Geoff Johns completely. I'm sure fans would have love to see the epic battle between the armies of Atlanteans and the entire DCU heroes (not just the Justice League). This sometimes is a good thing because you don't wanna watch something that is predictable.

The Voice acting overall was great, although some characters like Green Lantern and Shazam seem to be a bit unbalanced. Rosario Dawson’s voicing of Wonder Woman was superb and the film could have used more of it. Most of the weight was carried by Matt Lanter voicing Aquaman whom on his own turned in a pretty good performance.

The animation was crisp and well drawn. One thing that the film did well more so than most recent DC Animated movies is the acting drawn into the characters. Eye movements, twitches, and the fluidity of there movement in battle all surpass previous entries. Visually, everything just clicks on this movie.

Justice League: Throne of Atlantis was a pretty good movie and I would recommend fans of DC animated movies to pick it up. I give this movie 3 1/2 stars out of 5. Be sure to watch after the end credit for a preview of whats next for the Justice League.

Justice League Throne of Atlantis is available on Digital HD and on Blu-Ray and DVD January 27, 2015.

Comic Book News: CONVERGENCE Leaves 'Every Door Open', Wants To Reunite Generations of DC Fans

Convergence #1 cover by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado

According to DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Dan DiDio, the company's April-launching event Convergence is not a self-contained story, but leaves "every door open" when it concludes — and leads directly into June's expected revamp of the DC line.

Convergence is DC's two-month mega-event that replaces the publisher's entire comic line during April and May. Its story revisits concepts from a wide variety of past DC storylines — including fan-favorite characters eliminated by DC's 2011 reboot. In the story, an alien version of Brainiac has trapped cities from various timelines, and during Convergence, the characters from throughout DC's history are meeting in one big superhero mash-up.

As DiDio describes the story, it's a mix of both the new DCU and the best of the old — something the company is hoping will attract "returning" readers along while exciting the diverse new audience that has embraced the rebooted "New 52" universe.

Here’s the biggest question we have: Does this mean some of the pre-New 52 versions of DC’s characters are coming back? Speculation has been higher than ever since the last page of Superman: Doomed #2 teased that trunks-wearing Superman, Jack Kirby’s OMAC, Ted Kord Blue Beetle, the 1980s Teen Titans and lots more are out there in the multiverse somewhere. Other comics tied into Futures End have had similar reveals.

Hero Alert!: Arrow Vs Flash

Images from WeGotThisCovered

Finally, a full cross over between two of DC small screen super heroes! The Flash and Arrow, whose TV series I have enjoyed so much. They go back and forth with words, they fight and at the end knowledge and passed over and there friendship grows.
Starting up as a team up of Flash and Arrow to catch a villain that makes his victims become enraged. Arrow aka Oliver Queen tries to train Barry aka the flash who jumps into a fight with  Roy. G. Bivolo aka the Rainbow Raider thinking that he has everything under control but wound up being enraged and the only person who can stop him is Arrow.
This is something I would play out in Injustice (which is free on PSN for this month) but I'm extremely happy to see a cross over and I can't wait for more. There will be another episode showing tonight 8 pm EST on WB11(CW) where things are going to heat up more between the two heroes.
Here is my question to you, who do you think would win Between Flash and Arrow?  Leave a comment below.
