Twitch purchased by Amazom for $970 Million! ~ 8bitdrum

It is official as of August 25, 2014 Twitch the number one video game streaming service has been purchased by Amazon. Contrary to earlier reports that google were the ones who were gonna purchase Twitch fora billion dollars, Amazon instead bought them for $970 million. Why go with Amazon instead of Google's cool billion, Twitch CEO Emmett Shear states-

"they share our values and long-term vision, and they want to help us get there faster. We’re keeping most everything the same: our office, our employees, our brand, and most importantly our independence. But with Amazon’s support we’ll have the resources to bring you an even better Twitch."

Excerpt from Emmett's Letter from the CEO (you can click the link or read below.) Insinuating the deal from Google was more restricting and planned to point twitch in a different direction.

Now what does this mean for twitch? Essentially it means Twitch can now support their rapid growth in the form of more servers and having access to all of amazon's resources. But does Partnering with Amazon and more money mean a better twitch only time will tell.
