Review: Smash Brothers 3DS

After the 6 year gap of no smash brothers, is smash brothers 3ds worth the wait?

MEWTWO IS CONFIRMED!

HOLY ISH.

In today's Smash Brothers centric Nintendo direct, Nintendo announced that players who purchase Smash for both the Wii U and 3DS will be able to download Mewtwo for free.

Is it free if you have to buy both games to get the dlc...I don't know. But who cares..MEWTWO!

HYPE!

(I just hope it doesn't end up being this ugly bloke)

2014NYCC: Hands on- Hitman | sniper

Last Thursday I had the wonderful opportunity to stop by Square Enix and check out a few of their current and upcoming releases one of them being Hitman|Sniper the hybrid of you guessed it Hitman and sniper. The game is for mobile but I got to check it out on iPad and I must say I had a lot of fun. It seems that the guys over at Square Enix Montreal have a really good understanding on what makes a free to play game work. With very addictive gameplay and no in your face pay to win option any where I can really see this game catching on. The game is set up so you can play for minutes or hours it's up to you on how you want to execute each level. Once you spot the target it's about secretly taking  out additional targets throughout the level to rack up points be fore you execute the main target. From hiding bodies to making deaths look like accidents this game embodies the Hitman experience through the scope of a sniper rifle. Definitely worth checking out Hitman fan or not. The game drops latter this year and I will be looking forward to seeing you on the leaderboard.

Cool Ish : NorCal Street Fighter IV Hits Twitch

Hello!

Just a quick little thing I thought that I'd share with you.

If you are familiar with the twitch Fighting games scene then you have probably checked out shows such as 'Friday Night Fights' or 'EXP Gaming' or some of the other big ones, but recently the NorCal Street Fighter players have been showing up for weekly tournaments called 'ShowDown'.

It seems like a good bit of fun and is entertaining enough to watch (if you can get passed the commentators' complete over respect of the corner pressure).

If you want to check it out, you can find them on twitch.
Give 'em a shout and tell 'em who sent ya!

Cool Ish : First Generation Pokemon Hack

Hello!

Today I would like to share with our lovely 8BitDrum readers, precisely what the title ensues. Some cool shit that I discovered on the internet.

Now, I am no Pokemon Gen 1 purist that lives and dies by the names Pokemon Red, Green and Blue..but I am a fan of retro games and that retro feel that is irreplaceable. That being said, I saw this while scrolling through the Cool Rom list.

This game is a complete re imagining of Pokemon with Pokemon representing regions One through Three.

And because I love you, here is the link for the download and the official site link.

Review : The Evil Within

If I had to describe "The Evil Within" in one word, the word would be challenging.  Being developed by Tango Gameworks and the project is led by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, (whose been Executive producer and director of some of my favorite games such as Resident Evil 4 and Goof Troop)  Evil With In has a Resident Evil 4 feel to it but with a lot of twist and turns. Even With the fighting chance DLC, I'm having a hard time staying alive against hordes of twisted village and large boss creatures. Following Detective Sebastian Castellanos the main character who you find more about as you play through the story is man who understands lose. Stealth and strategy is what your going to need to survive save ammo hide in a closet enjoy a little wait under someones bed and then strike. The story line its self is a puzzle and more and more you proceed through the chapters of the game, everything starts to become clear. Shooting is difficult because enemies can take a lot of damage and they run at you. Also, with a limited amount of ammo this is truly a survival game. There are alternative weapons, the Ax and the torch, there for only one time usage but great way to save ammo. I'm really enjoying Evil With In and cant wait for DLC to come out for the game.

I'm giving this game a rating of 8.5/10

2014NYCC: First impressions - Resident Evil Revelations 2

At this years Comic con i saw the Resident Evil Revelations 2 booth and knew i just had to play it. Even after waiting an hour i was still excited to see that Capcom came out with a second "Resident Evil Revelations". The game starts out following Clair Redfield and Moria Burton(Barry Burtons Daughter ) being abducted and waking up in a prison cell on an unknown island. The booth had the demo for Playstaion 4, and the graphics are great and the game play is smooth check out the trailer below.

The game has shades of "Resident Evil 4", but with the ability to use combos and switch with the other character. Instead of shooting ooze for an hour( from the last Revelations game), you are now against the afflicted. The afflicted move like the Los Pluga villiage people, but look like a bunch of man-sized Frankensteins.

I'm a big fan of the Resident Evil franchise, and I have high expectations of the game. Overall, I enjoyed playing the demo and can't wait for the game to come out in November. Also for more Comic con coverage check out 8bitdrum.com and check out this awesome live action trailer.
