505 Games NYC Editor Showcase: Adr1ft

A little while ago 505 games offered us a wonderful opportunity to check out some the new games they are working on. One such game is Adr1ft a suspense thriller based in space.

Are you afraid of being alone? Imagine waking up on a deserted space station just floating and losing oxygen fast. Inhabiting the wreckage of a destroyed space station with no memory and a severely damaged EVA (Extra Vehicular Activity) suit,  struggling  to determine the cause of the catastrophic event that took the lives of everyone on board. The player fights to stay alive by exploring the wreckage for precious resources and overcomes the challenges of an unforgiving environment in an attempt to repair the damaged emergency escape vehicle and return home safely.

Thanks to 505 games we were able to play the demo on a massive movie screen and on the amazing Oculus rift. The astonishing graphics and physics that were implemented into the game really stick out to me. Every movement is very life like and very dangerous. You loose oxygen every second so you have to keep moving, its a high risk high reward when it comes to the game play.

Its a definite buy if your into survival games, its not competitive and if you wanna know how its feels to an astronaut with out the real life risk of floating off into the sun and being burned alive.

Justice League: Throne of Atlantis Review

    Credit DC Comics

Hey all you great Comic fans, we got a chance to preview  Justice League: Throne of Atlantis movie and this is not the Super Friends Aquaman we all know!  JL: Throne of Atlantis Voice Acting Cast: Matt Lanter as Aquaman, Sumalee Montano as Queen Mera, Sam Witwer as Orm, Sirena  Irwin as Queen Atlanna,  Jerry O'Connell as Superman, Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman, Jason O'Mara as Batman, Christopher Gorham as The Flash, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Sean Patrick Thomas as Cyborg, Sean Astin as Shazam. As always here is a synopsis of the movie:

Cyborg discovers an imminent threat in the depths of the oceans so powerful that it rallies together the newly formed Justice League. Meanwhile, wanderingthousands of feet above the ocean floor is drifter Arthur Curry, a man with strange powers who may be the last chance to bridge the ancient Atlantean world with our own. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League must band together as they face off against warmongering Orm, an army of sea creatures, otherworldly weapons and perilous odds. In this all-new epic adventure from the DC Universe, mankind’s only hope of escaping from the darkness lies with the guiding light of a man – Aquaman!

Review

Ok Aquaman is probably the least favorite character of the DCU , but after watching this movie, there might be a few more fans!  Justice League: Throne of Atlantis continues after the events of  Justice League: War, and the seven hero's are not used to working as a team. The movie does a good job telling the origin of Arthur Curry and his issues trying to come to grips with his strange powers. The story then shifts to the conflict his half brother Orm is having with his mother the queen, about the peace between the surface world and  Atlantis. Due to the event of the previous movie, he feels its only a matter of time before the Surface world's problem becomes theirs.

One thing comic fans will notice is the movie doesn't follow the New 52 Justice League story written by Geoff Johns completely. I'm sure fans would have love to see the epic battle between the armies of Atlanteans and the entire DCU heroes (not just the Justice League). This sometimes is a good thing because you don't wanna watch something that is predictable.

The Voice acting overall was great, although some characters like Green Lantern and Shazam seem to be a bit unbalanced. Rosario Dawson’s voicing of Wonder Woman was superb and the film could have used more of it. Most of the weight was carried by Matt Lanter voicing Aquaman whom on his own turned in a pretty good performance.

The animation was crisp and well drawn. One thing that the film did well more so than most recent DC Animated movies is the acting drawn into the characters. Eye movements, twitches, and the fluidity of there movement in battle all surpass previous entries. Visually, everything just clicks on this movie.

Justice League: Throne of Atlantis was a pretty good movie and I would recommend fans of DC animated movies to pick it up. I give this movie 3 1/2 stars out of 5. Be sure to watch after the end credit for a preview of whats next for the Justice League.

Justice League Throne of Atlantis is available on Digital HD and on Blu-Ray and DVD January 27, 2015.

The Marvel Universe comes to an end!! Secret Wars 2015

     Credit: Marvel Comics

Ok comic book fans, yesterday Marvel announced at a press conference at Midtown Comic to end all announcements! Marvel Universe as we know it will be coming to an end! Let us take a moment to remember the universe that many generation grew up on...... R.I.P Marvel Universe 1961-2015. But don't stress True Believers, from Death comes Life. Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso and Senior Vice President of Publishing Tom Brevoort both discuss the May-debuting event series from Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic.

The big news delivered during the event is that the Marvel Universe and Ultimate Universe will combine in the inciting incident of "Secret Wars," in an "incursion" as described in Hickman's "Avengers" and "New Avengers" run. The end result is Battleworld, which has been previously partly revealed by a series of teaser images drawing off of past Marvel history -- and it's not just those two prominent universes that will be colliding.

"The Ultimate Universe, the Marvel Universe, they're going to slap together," Alonso said. "Imagine two pizzas: They're going to combine toppings, some toppings are going to drop off. And that is the Marvel Universe moving forward. It's more than the Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Universe, it's all the universes you can imagine. That is the Marvel Universe going forward."

The series of previously released teasers only represent about half of the Battleworld landscape, as revealed by Marvel. Multiple announcements are planned over the next two weeks for more stories tying in to "Secret Wars."

The news has raised many questions, including what Marvel's publishing line will look like as a whole during the course of "Secret Wars"  and what shape the Marvel Universe will be in after the event. We will bring you more as it soon as it's out.

What to expect from Marvel's April 2015 Comics

Punisher Goes Legit
Previous solicits have established that Spider-Gwen will introduce new twists on numerous elements not just of the Spider-Man mythos, but of the larger Marvel universe. With this solicit for April's

Spider-Gwen #3, we're getting our first glimpse of one of those twists.
Frank Castle, AKA the Punisher, has deep roots in the mainstream Spider-Man mythos - he first appeared as a villain in Amazing Spider-Man #129 - so it's fitting that he'll appear as a different kind of nemesis for Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman.

Interestingly, Frank Castle was created by Gerry Conway a mere five issues after he wrote Gwen Stacy's death in Amazing Spider-Man #121

All-New X-Men #40
Brian Bendis has been teasing the Utopians for a while now, with prospective images showing them as a mutant collective comprised of characters such as Pixie, Callisto, Colossus, and even Adam X who were associated with the X-Men's Utopia era.  Last seen during AvX when it was sunk by the Phoenix Five, Utopia was an island headquarters off the coast of San Francisco designed to be a haven for mutants. With Magneto's solo title dealing with the legacy of Genosha, it seems fitting that Bendis should be revisiting the concept of a mutant nation in All-New X-Men.
It's been over a year since Bendis last promised an appearance for the Utopians in 2014, and it was September that he last mentioned it, so the Utopians have been in the works for a long time. Exactly who they are and what their relationship to the X-Men might be remains to be seen.

Wolverines
With Logan still dead, his various extended family members are still filling his place in the Marvel Universe. It may seem weird that Marvel's most popular mutant is absent from its publishing line, but time has proved that when it comes to Wolverine, more is more. What's better than one nigh-unstoppable mutant samurai? How about a half-dozen of them?  Of course, it seems Marvel wants at least some of us to think that Logan is on his way back to the land of the living - however, that silhouette paints a dramatically different picture, showing a Wolverine-esque figure with not three, but four claws on each hand.
So who does this point to? Our best guess is Romulus, the manipulative villain who has been behind the scenes of many events in Wolverine's life, and the lives of his similar "Lupines." But is the return of Romulus really "the moment we've been waiting for?" Maybe Marvel has another twist in store for us yet.

Secret Wars Prelude
It's no secret that Marvel's next big crossover is supposed to be a real game-changer, bringing in elements of Marvel's various publishing lines and alternate realities, possibly leading to what many speculate will be some kind of reboot, or at least a reworking of their timeline and core reality. With this many balls in the air, a Secret Wars Prelude collection seems like a no-brainer. What is a little less clear is exactly how the titles assembled in this collection feed into the larger story of  Secret Wars. A selection of issues of the original Secret Wars, a recent Fantastic Four comic, and stories featuring Miles Morales and the Ultimates aren't exactly a clear roadmap - but they may provide some clues.
Highlighting the end of Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four, a series which lead directly to his ongoing story of the collapse of Marvel's multiverse, it's a safe bet that Secret Wars will tie directly in to the conclusion of that collapse. Likewise, it makes sense that the Ultimate Universe is receiving some love, since it seems likely that some elements of that timeline - particularly Miles Morales - will find their way into the mainstream Marvel universe at the end of Secret Wars - whatever that may look like.
